Pre-Program Questionnaire
Tim is proud that he never delivers the same program twice.
As no two audiences are exactly the same, no two of Tim’s presentations are
exactly the same. He holds onto -- in fact, he constantly improves -- the informative content pieces of his Culture to Engage! keynote and workshops. And Tim’s stories allow his audiences not only to enjoy but also
to identify with and “own” the concepts Tim is sharing. These stories are cornerstones of his presentations. Plus, he is always finding new ones.
But the “personality” of every presentation is seasoned and spiced by the
homework Tim does in advance. He either telephones and speaks directly with prospective audience members or e-mails a brief series of questions. His goal is to learn the issues and concerns, the pleasures and pains,
the stories that are funny and touching. His goal is to know his audience so that they will know how well his information applies to them and their circumstances.
Some questions Tim typically includes in the phone call or e-mail questionnaire:
- What two or three issues occupy most of your thinking energy on the job?
- What two or three words best describe your job (profession, career, company, etc.)?
- What’s the funniest thing that’s happened to you (at work or at home) in the last year?
- Who in your organization/association fits each of these labels:
Funniest? Laziest? Most talkative? Most energetic? Oldest?
Youngest? Orneriest? Most considerate? Most patient? Least patient?
- What two or three things do you hope to gain from (the event)?
“”Tim, let me say that your program was beautifully constructed.
You had studied our needs and personality well, and that guaranteed that you points...hit home.” (Winchester Medical Center and Valley Health System)
