Last week’s three-part series about Networking to Engage offered 10.5 tips for use in the traditional yet still valuable up-close-and-personal naetworking. The purpose was to help you build a functional, valuable, continuous network of individuals interested in learning more about the how-to of Employee Engagement.
This week I will bring in online social networking. But not–repeat, not–from the perspective of Build Your List of Contacts to 21 Million in 21 Minutes.
Rather, we’ll look at prominent social networking tools available and how you might use them to build a network of others who share your commitment to Employee Engagement.
Today: Twitter
Here are 6 easy steps to build contacts with others interested in Employee Engagement.
- Join Twitter if you haven’t already.
- On your Home page, enter a status message in the What Are You Doing window. I just entered: Managers’ roles concerning Employee Engagement. Join my FB discussion…http://tinyurl.com/mqup32. (That URL links to a discussion board on my Facebook Employee Engagement page. More on that tomorrow!)
- Check your Profile page to see how that Status message looks.
- Frequently check for replies to your message. On your Twitter Home page, click the @yourusername to see replies to your status message.
- Begin communication with those whose replies show true interest.
