Welcome to Day 2 of the 5-Day Plan to boost employee engagement in your business. [BTW, these tips work
whether yours is an entrepreneurial enterprise of few employees or a mega-corporation. ]
Today we look at the actual kickoff of your Employee Engagement Week.
Like a football season, a product introduction, a site opening, or a merger/acquisition, your Employee Engagement Week wants upfront promotion and pizazz.
You want everyone (employees, customers, suppliers, community) to know it’s happening and that it means something.
You want your announcement to be filled with energy, enthusiasm, emphasis, and encouragement.
Whether the kickoff is a storefront pep rally, a town-hall meeting for employees, or a video broadcast to every worksite, you want to include:
- Your President or CEO telling specifically why you’re doing this. Include the motivations, the benefits, the objectives.
- Short talk-spots from employees at all levels. Include bits about “why engagement matters to me” and “how I plan to engage even more this week” and “what this week will mean to our business.”
- A summary in advance of what is to be featured each day during the week.
Generate excitement by showing everyone’s excitement.

This is timely information for me as I launch Phase 2 of my business. I knew I would be out there rallying the troops, but it didn’t dawn on me to get my employees or even clients involved, too. Great reminders and coaching! You are great at what you do!
Thanks, Tim!
