The 5-day plan to boost your employees’ engagement (Day 4)

calendar4If you take on a 5-day plan to boost employee engagement in your business, you will want to know how it’s working. I suggest you not wait until it’s over.

I suggest you construct a quick and easy measurement tool before you even begin your week. Then you can implement the tool on Day 2 and begin sharing the results almost at once.

You and your employees will find that the quicker the feedback, the greater the impact. IOW, when your measurement tool demonstrates increased engagement and improved performance, that will stimulate even more.

Suggestions:

  • A short and simple fill-in-the-blank form for customers/clients to affirm their awareness of more visible engagement by your employees. Use a half-sheet, ask one or two Y/N questions, and leave two lines for brief comments. Place the forms in a readily accessible place (reception counter, cash register, beside exit door), and be sure there are plenty of pencils.
  • Measurements of factors that make a difference to your business: error rate, product completion, delivery volumes, calls received and issues satisfied, for example. Produce these results with more immediacy and fanfare than normal. Link them directly to your Employee Engagement Week efforts. Give reason to celebrate.
  • Employee feedback. Post and make well known a box (fishbowl? digital inbox?) for employees to drop their comments about the week and the week’s impact. Best to focus on a single question, perhaps with a reference line. For example: How is our Engagement Week working? Please give us your candid comments throughout the week.

Tomorrow’s Day 5 of the 5-Day Plan. C’mon back!

  1. Very good. I like that everyone involved gives feedback. That would contribute to feeling heard, valued and respected. Who doesn’t want that? I love this!
    Thanks, Tim!
