More and more evidence proves that employees favor companies committed to green.
For a change, that doesn’t refer to money but to commitment to protecting the environment, protecting our earth.
Remember the more an employee identifies with her company’s values, the more readily she engages in her work and in her company. Environmental benefits of every green effort are good; employee engagement those efforts generate is added value.
Keeping that in mind, consider this:
Kenexa Research Institute’s WorkTrends survey (2008) accumulated workers’ opinions in 13 countries. The survey results indicated that organizations’ environmental commitment by recycling, energy conservation, and selection of ‘green’ vendors positively influenced employee engagement levels.
That engagement relates to
- employees’ pride in the organization,
- overall satisfaction,
- willingness to recommend the company as a favorable place to work, and
- greater likelihood they’ll stay with the company.
Tomorrow’s post will explore specific companies’ green engagement activities. Hope you’ll stop by.
