Creative employee engagement: be prepared

It’s established that creativity is a part of engagement.Broken pencil

And it’s established that being engaged generates being creative.

I offer an easy-to-use activity to open the creative flow and generate employee engagement. Recognize, please, that as your team applies the activity, they are engaging. Certainly, the results of the activity–performance improvements–are party to engagement also.

  • Select an upcoming task or project the team is about to take on.
  • Quickly “in brainstorm mode” the team lists  failure possibilities. Think specific failure parts, not just the whole assignment failing.
  • Allow 10-15 minute of failure brainstorming. Then one member s l o w l y reads the list of failure possibilities.
  • As the list is read, others notice how thinking of failures triggers your problem-solving and problem-preventing ideas.
