You may have seen the previous 2 postings offering New Year’s resolutions for leaders and for managers.
Seems I should write a few for my own engagement in 2010.
Get better. I will devote 15 minutes every morning to ask/answer two questions: What did I do well yesterday? What can I do better today?
Have Aha’s. I will develop some new insight every day. I will either read or interview or analyze. I will find a new way of looking at, understanding, or using something I (may) already know.
Write it down. I will not only continue but increase my use of personal journals. In 2010 I will maintain a general journal (scribbles, ideas, quotes, memories…the potpourri of my mind). And in 2010 I will dedicate time and energy to a prayer journal.
Keep the balance. It’s too easy to go overboard at work, with work, about work. I will ensure time for the other parts of my life: family, spirituality, exercise, learning, entertainment. OK, maybe not all those things every day!
Four’s enough. I’ve learned over 60 years that I rarely get to the end of a too-long list. My overall resolution is to maintain these four…from now until a year from now!
Happy New Year!
