Engagement in one’s work is exciting. It generates senses of accomplishment, achievement, commitment…and making a difference.
Excitement stimulates energy: physical, mental and emotional.
Excitement heightens enthusiasm: the good feeling of “this makes a difference”.
Excitement impacts others: positive experience can be contagious in work situations.

I believe there’s connection between engagement, imagination and inspiration…in the mind of the employee.
And I believe it’s not necessary to argue what’s cause and what’s effect. All that really matters is that each one stimulates the others, and that stimulation is circular.

Lately I’ve been thinking about my definition of Employee Engagement.
Almost exactly 3 years ago–10/11/07–I offered my own definition for Employee Engagement.
I maintained then that employee engagement is
Investment of one’s body, mind, and spirit in one’s work.
