We looked at why we can be thankful for employee engagement yesterday. Today, let's look at 5 reasons to give thanks for management engagement.
Development. A manager can (should) engage actively in helping employees build self-development skills. Those skills will benefit the employee and the company (and surely the manager) repeatedly into the future.
Team Success. Team players look to their coach for behavior and energy to emulate. A manager who demonstrates engagement in all that makes a team successful — commitment, partnership, communication, support — paves the path to team success.
Recruitment. When a manager engages fully in her role, she generates an atmosphere that is magnetic. Candidates for positions within that team or department sense the engagement and the energy. This is a powerful attraction factor when recruiting employees.
Retention. The same holds for keeping quality employees. It is hard to leave a positive workplace. A workplace that features engagement among employees and by management is definitely postive.
Pride. Pride is contagious. An employee is proud to work with a manager who cares about employees, cares about performance, cares about engagement. That works both ways. A manager whose engagement motivates employees enjoys motivation of his own in return.
